To continue our focus for the month of June, we are introducing different varieties, growers and inspiring demonstrations on how you can incorporate the flowers into the arrangements.

This week, Debbie is demonstrating how to incorporate garden styled roses into a pretty bridal or bridesmaid bouquet with a lilac, plum and green colour palettes using a beautiful selection of flower varieties.

Total Time 30 minutes
Difficulty Easy to Moderate

  1. Condition the flowers overnight before you start working with them.
  2. Begin by preparing the stems, removing any thorns and lower foliage on the stems.
  3. Start the bouquet, creating a spiral with the stems.
  4. Once you have created the bouquet and you are happy with the balance of flowers, you can secure with twine. Add the anchor tape around the tying point and a few inches below to bring the stem together for the handle.
  5. Cut the stems to size using your hands for a guide.
  6. You can now add the handle finish using the hessian ribbon and satin ribbon bows.

  • If preferred, you can use silvery/green Eryngium thistles in the arrangement.
  • If you are making the bouquet the day before the wedding, do not add the decorative ribbon or pearls until the day of the wedding. Stop at stage 4/5 and put the bouquet into a bucket or container with water and leave in a cool, low lit environment overnight.
